Frequently asked questions.

What is a typical Craniosacral session like?

Craniosacral is performed fully clothed while lying on a comfortable treatment table. The therapist uses a light touch, similar to the weight of a nickel, to engage various tissues to locate areas of restriction. Once the specific areas are located the therapist will begin working in the areas of greatest restriction. The therapist may work exclusively in this one area or move around the body as required to release and ease the competing tensions and restrictions within the body.

How does it feel, should I feel anything?

During the session clients may feel nothing except the therapist’s hands on their body, or they may feel things moving inside their body. They may experience tingling, pains arising in different parts of their body that quickly disappear, heat, pulls, twitching or pulses within the body. Clients often feel a deep sense of relaxation during the treatment. Results vary as much as each client - some have increased energy & clarity, others go away extremely relaxed desiring to sleep. Pain reduction or increased function can occur immediately or may develop over the next few days.

How long does a session take?

Sessions typically range between 45-60 minutes for adult clients. Pediatric clients are generally seen for 30 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

Each client comes in with a unique history and set of symptoms therefore it is not possible to give a definite timetable. Some experience relief after the first session, others need more treatment. Generally within 3-5 sessions both the client and therapist will know if CST is the right modality for them.

How safe is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is considered very safe with little risk of potential harm because it is non-invasive and uses a light touch.
